This is my informal magazine cover.
I think that i could have improved this cover by adding more detail to it and taking more care whilst arranging the photographs in their positions. I could have also researched more fonts to find more variety which may have suited better. The colours i choose could have also had a theme to them rather than random colours. I like the photograph down the bottom as it is blanded in to the background rather than just placed on top, i could have took more care whilst erasing the background though. Overall i think there is quite a few areas where i could have improved in.
This is my formal magazine cover.
I prefer this magazine cover alot more as i have chosen suitable colours and the fonts and picture used arre much more sophisticated and suit the style that is it meant to be. I also used banners along the bottom rather than just typing text over the background, this makes it look alot more proffesional. In order to improve i could of perhaps added more detail, especially in the middle of the cover as it only has a faint photograph that blends into the background rather than a main feature. I also could have brightened it up abit as it is rather dull and plain, but in some aspects this works as it fits in with the formal magazine style, that is targeted at an older audience.

In todays lesson i got alot of work done and got a greater understanding of how to use the blog. I learnt how to insert links into the blog and catagorize my posts. I did research on existing magazine covers and uploaded photographs that i took.

I chose to take this picture as it shows a group of people chatting which would be suitable for the informal magazine.
This photo shows a group of friends which i thought would be appropiate for the magazine cover.
This also shows people in the common room chatting and enjoying themselves.

This contents page is quite simple and it is quite hard to read the writing as the background is quite off putting but it explains what is on every page. The title of the page is very plain and boring and isn’t positioned in a very good place.
This contents page uses pictures as well as texts making it more interesting and attractive. The font is funky but is also quite hard to read. I like how the contents heading has the school logo underneath it in different colours. I think the background is a bit bright which may be difficult for people to look at.
This contents page is very appealing to the eye and set out in a technical way. I like the way that is looks like there are lights shining on the page and the use of bright colours are used for different areas of the magazine. There are also a large range of fonts for each topic.

I choose this magazine cover as I find it quite effective how the image has been placed on the cover as if the children are stood on it. It is a unique cover as it is very simple and plain but is appealing. I also like how the background fades dark to light.
I like the effect that the picture of the pencil and pencil sharpener has on this magazine as it has a blur around it making the focus on the picture. I like how the logo is also on the magazine and stands out a lot as it is in a different colour. The picture is separated from the text by the colour of the background changing making the magazine clear what school it is.
This cover is very colourful and appealing. There are many layers used bringing a lot of effect into the cover. There are pictures of students edited onto the cover with the school logo in the center. There is also a pattern in the background making the magazine look more attractive and it is done in quite a childish way, which could bring more children to have a look through it. I also like how the name of the school is done in a different font that stands out and fits in well with the rest of the cover.

Chosen Hill School
This is my formal magazine front cover. I chose quite a dull back ground which i thought would suit the target audience, and as the main picture used a picture of the new sixth form block. I also put a row of photographs along the top to make the cover more interesting and appealing. I put photographs of students working and participating in sport to give an insight of what the school is like. I mentioned what would be inside of the magazine and all the different aspects that will be covered to give valid information that is needed. By having this on the front cover it gives the reader an idea of what is going to be mentioned and may interest them. I used a different colour font for this for them to stand out from the rest and positioned them in a specific lay out. The title of the cover is very formal and plain but as the target audience is adults i thought this was the most appropriate font and style.

Chosen Chat
I practised a magazine cover to try out new techniques to experiment and give me ideas for my final magazine cover. I took a picture that i though would be suitable for it and copy and pasted it into thebackground of the magazine. I used a gradient with blue into white for my background. i inserted the picture to the place i wanted it, and used the erase tool to get rid of the edges and blend it into the background. i then came up with a title for my magazine ‘Chosen Chat’ i used the font national primary for the title as it stood out on the page. I then inserted a speech bubble and put it by there mouths with a sentance saying ‘ tell me all the goss?’ to target this magazine on teenagers and school kids, so they can find out the latest news and gossip from the school. for a final finish i added a star as i thought it looked quite plain and boring before.
